SIMON SCHUBERT, Im Zweifel für den Zweifel
Simon Schubert is known, above all, for his paper folds, in which the motifs, such as corridors or stairways, become solely visible through light and shadow.
His graphite works also have light as their theme. The current exhibition shows the most recent of these works as a cabinet piece, which deepens our impression of their own historical correlations and references. At the same time the ensemble enters into a conscious dialogue with the historicizing gallery rooms. The new sculptures, also, are enigmatic and uncanny.
